New jobs coming to the Pineville area

Good news is about to come to the Pineville region, especially for those currently out of work.

Nimble Storage, a storage technology developer based in California’s Silicone Valley, is opening a facility in Research Triangle Park, about two hours from Pineville. Nimble develops technology using flash solutions, and has received nearly $100m in funding from various venture capital companies, such as Light Speed, ACCEL Partners, and Sequoia Capital.

The RTP location is Nimble’s first East Coast operation, and it will be hiring as many as 100 new employees for this site. The company makes storage arrays that use its own proprietary software. It began operations in 2008 and started delivering hardware in 2010, and says that it has helped its clients reduce the space they need for data storage, which in turn brings down their operating costs. It has over 1,000 customers and has sold more than 2,000 storage arrays to them.

Nimble is looking for sales personnel, engineers, and people to handle customer support. It chose to open its first East Coast site in RTP because of the pool of available employees created by the presence in the area of a number of universities.

The Nimble office is at 4813 Emperor Boulevard, and its CEO, Suresh Vasudevan, says the firm is looking forward to boosting the local economy and benefiting from the number of technologically-savvy workers available in the area.

Nimble could work with brochure printers in the region to create material for distribution on campuses and via direct mail. The brochures could introduce the company and its products to area residents, as well as potential employees.
