On Friday, May 11, the Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation announced the opening of a new shop in Burlington, North Carolina at 210 Huffman Road. The company is no doubt using flyer printing and poster printing to attract future customers to the store and to make those seeking employment aware of the potential 20 to 25 jobs that it will create in the area.

According to the director of corporate communications for Krispy Kreme in Winston-Salem, Brian K. Little, the new shop, which will be situated at the former location of Panchero’s Mexican Grill, will be about 2,100 square feet in size. It will offer its signature Hot Original Glazed doughnut and other doughnuts for which Krispy Kreme is famous, as well as its Chillers, iced beverage drinks, espresso drinks, and coffees. A drive-thru window will also be available.

Little added that, currently, the closest Krispy Kreme locations are in Greensboro, which is 30 minutes away from Burlington. An opening date for the Krispy Kreme in Burlington has yet to be determined.

Krispy Kreme was started by vernon Rudolph in July 1937 in the Old Salem district of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He originally sold his doughnuts to grocery stores but passers-by were so taken by the smell of his fresh, hot doughnuts that he started selling them directly to the public from his bakery location.

The company has since expanded throughout the southeast United States, New York City, and California. It now has shops throughout the United States and has expanded to Canada, Australia, and England, particularly in the last decade.
