Town to celebrate itself
September 9, 2016 by Max
Locals will be eagerly awaiting a Celebrate Fuquay-Varina Festival early in October.
The venue’s five stages will have live entertainment, beginning with a free Jimmy Buffett-style musical performance by Landshark Band.
Other bands, such as the Magic Pipers and Crush, will be playing at the Beer Garden Performance Area. King BMX Bike stunt riders will thrill audiences with flatland feats, as well as with ramp jumps. The Main Street Stage will have Magician Michael Creech, children’s songwriter, singer, and storyteller Trish Miller, comedian David Ferrell, and saxophonist James Brown.
The Community Showcase tent will feature local talent. A whopping 80 arts and crafts artisans will be selling their creations in the Artist Village.
There will be plenty of food and beverages available for purchase, and a free Kids Zone on Main Street. More than 50 vintage cars will be on display at the Classic Car Show.
During the festival, Mayor John W. Byrne invites everyone to take a leisurely stroll with him to see local historic sites. Museums in the Fuquay-Varina Museums Complex will have tours all day long.
Everyone here in town will want to mark their calendars and get to the Fuquay Business District on Saturday, October 8. The fun will begin at 10:00 am and go until 4:00 pm. The Landshark Band will perform in concert Thursday, October 6 in the Varina Business District at 6:30 pm.
