Fuquay-Varina’s big day finally on its way
November 1, 2016 by Mark
The Celebrate Fuquay-Varina festival, which was cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew, will be coming in a few days.
With its theme ‘a dash more festive’, the event will have four stages of entertainment, food, art vendors, a downtown chili-cook off, a kids’ zone, classic car show and the Bengal Tigers auction.
The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council will be sponsoring an Artist Village. Here, guests can mingle with artists, buy original art, and try creating their own pieces. Everyone will want to remember to bring their digital business cards to exchange information with these talented artists.
The Kids Zone will be free and offer amusement rides such as swings and the Fun Slide. Older kids may enjoy the rock wall.
The Fuquay-Varina Downtown Revitalization Association will be holding a chili cook-off, in which more than 20 competitors will be vying for top honors. The public will vote on the ‘People’s Choice’ winner. A panel of judges will be doing a blind taste test to determine the first, second, and third place winners.
Other entertainment will include 3 BMX Bike Shows, local talent in the Community Showcase tent, and acts such as storytelling, a magic show and musical groups on the Main Street Stage.
More than 50 classic cars are expected to be on display at the Classic Car Show thanks to the Fuquay Cruisers Car Club.
The festival will be November 5 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm in downtown Fuquay-Varina.
