Fuquay-Varina ready to hop to it for Easter

March 20, 2017 by

Spring is almost here and the children of Fuquay-Varina are getting their baskets ready for our town’s annual Easter Egg Hunt and Candy Hop. Both activities will be free.

The day will begin with the Easter Egg Hunt. Over 12,000 colorful plastic eggs will be awaiting little ones as they scramble through the grass at the park. The Easter Bunny will be officiating and meeting with the youngsters. Families are invited to bring along their cameras and get some good pictures of their children and the rabbit, then perhaps insert them into holiday cards for relatives. As usual, this is a B.Y.O.B (bring your own basket) event.

After the Hunt, everyone can head downtown for the traditional Candy Hop. This is where stores supply the candy and treats, while kids and their parents ‘hop’ from store to store collecting goodies. Once again, kids must bring their own baskets or bags.

Both activities will be on Saturday, April 8. The Hunt will be at South Park, 900 South Main Street here in Fuquay-Varina, starting at 10:00 am. Kids need to be at the park early so they can start right on time, as eggs go fast. The hunt will be over by 11:00 am, at which time the Candy Hop will start and go until 2:00 pm in Fuquay-Varina’s Downtown Business District.
