New restaurant to head to Durham

Following the philosophy “if it worth having, it is worth waiting for”, Ryan Mitchell bided his time waiting for the perfect location for the restaurant he and his father were opening, but it is set to be here in Durham in the next few days.

Ryan used to be an investment banker, but now he wants to invest in his father, Ed, who is a famous barbecue pit master. They have spent 15 months looking for the perfect location for their new restaurant. The eatery, to be called Que, will naturally feature the senior Mitchell’s specialty.

The perfect spot turned out to be the office building, Diamond View III, on the American Tobacco Campus. While initially, father and son hoped to open in September 2013, it became apparent that was not going to happen. Now, the expectations are that Que will open on or around April 1. Hopefully, it will be open in time for the April 3 beginning of the minor-league Bull’s season, since Diamond View III is right outside the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Opening in an office building provides the new restaurant with a built in clientele, as well as the opportunity for plenty of word of mouth advertising. Additionally, the proximity of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Performance Arts Center and the other buildings on the American Tobacco Campus will help keep Que supplied with customers. Enticing this built-in customer base to their door could be as easy as contacting their local print company for flyers.
