Joedance Film Festival in search of submissions
May 15, 2013 by Mark
Film submissions are currently being accepted for the 4th annual Joedance Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held in the Fourth Ward District in Charlotte in early August.
Local filmmakers currently residing or originating in Charlotte can submit short or feature-length movies between now and June 1. Four short films and two of feature-length will be selected by a committee to receive a pass to the Joedance Film Festival.
The festival will be a red carpet event and will include dinner. No fee is required to enter the contest, and winners will be announced on June 16 at a reception taking place at the NC Music Factory at The Saloon.
Community contests and events are typically announced through flyer printing or other types of advertisement provided by local printing companies. Events such as the Joedance Film Festival may also advertise with poster printing, banner printing, or other media forms.
The Joedance Film Festival was started in 2010 in memory of Joe Resaino – a member of the Charlotte community who lost his battle with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, that year at just 20 years of age. All proceeds from the film festival are donated to the Levine Children’s Hospital in support of rare and pediatric cancer research. Some of the more specific types of research supported include blastomas, brain tumors, and sarcomas.
The annual Joedance Film Festival is held each year during the first weekend of August. The festival takes place at the 10th street Townhomes’ courtyard in the Fourth Ward District of Charlotte.
