On December 17, 2011, Peanuts fans will be able to combine their appreciation for jazz with their love of the classic comic strip.

Taking place at Halton Theater, celebrated pianist David Benoit will be giving Charlotte a “Charlie Brown Christmas” with the help of his quartet. Benoit will be performing the beloved Peanuts Piano Concerto in memory of the late Charles Schulz and will also be performing popular holiday songs as originally arranged by the eminent Vince Guaraldi.

Perhaps best known in the musical world for his part in “The Peanuts Theme”, David Benoit has been nominated for 5 Grammies over the course of his illustrious career. Noted for his tendency to incorporate string influences into his music, Benoit has also had extensive experience as a conductor and composer. Case in point, two of his jazz albums have made it to the top of the billboards. He’s collaborated with top jazz musicians like Chris Botti and has worked with at least one equally accomplished gospel group in Take 6.

Having worked with such notables as Cece Winans, Brian McKnight, Faith Hill, and The Walt Disney Company however, Benoit’s talents have transcended genre time and time again. Whether with respect to composing, playing the piano, or producing arrangements, Benoit has distinguished himself in every area.

According to the poster printing that’s likely visible throughout the theater, the concert begins at 8:00 p.m. with ticket prices going anywhere from $35.00-$46.00 a piece. For those who plan to be at 1206 Elizabeth Avenue on the 17th, the holiday season will be just a little bit sweeter.
