Charlotte ready to jingle

November 11, 2013 by

Residents in Charlotte have the chance to fight arthritis at the 2013 Jingle Bell 5K run/walk, at which there will also be a one-mile fun run. This is a family-friendly event and participants may dress up with antlers, Santa hats, or other festive attire.

In order to encourage participants to fundraise, the event organizers are offering incentives such as T-shirts and socks to those who raise enough money, and could consider using local printing services to spread the news of the event. The Arthritis Foundation is also trying to raise money with personal letters to children from Santa. For a minimum donation of $10 each, a special letter will arrive for children for Christmas. It is recommended to order Santa Letters before November 30 to ensure timely delivery.

The adult 5K competitive run costs $25, while the adult early bird competitive run and the child competitive run are both $20. The untimed walk/run for adults costs $15, and both the child early bird race and the one-mile fun run are $15 as well. For even more fun, kids can take part in a quick reindeer dash and dogs can participate in the doggie dash. Both of these fun runs are $10 to enter.

The race takes place on December 7 at the Blakeney Shopping Center at 9800 Rea Road in Charlotte, NC 28212. Registration is from 7:00 am – 8:00 am. The race begins at 8:00 am with the fun run starting shortly after at 8:15 am.
