Cary to host music and art fest

Residents in Cary are getting ready for the 2017 Fest in the West. The afternoon and evening event features food, music, games, and more.

The annual event is a festival designed to celebrate everything that makes Cary and the rest of the Triangle great. As such, it features a number of local musicians on its main stage including Tom Teachout and Friends, the Lounge Doctors, and the Martin County Ramblers. Each band will have approximately an hour-long set.

In addition to local musicians, the event will also have a number of local artists and crafters selling everything from paintings and sculptures, to custom drinkware, clothing, and pottery. Over 40 different vendors have confirmed for the fest, but spaces are still available. Interested artists can download a business form from the website to register for a booth.

The festival will also have a kids’ area with a bouncy obstacle course, face painting, henna tattoos, crafts, and other attractions. Several contests will also be held including a pie-eating contest and hillbilly horseshoes.

The Fest in the West will be held on May 20 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm at the USA Baseball Complex in Thomas Brooks Park, located at 7445 Green Hope School Rd. Admission is free to the public. Anyone looking for more info should visit the website.
