Balloon festival promises fun for the whole family

The Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival is taking place for three days next month in nearby Gonzales.

The Children’s Village is set to have carnival rides, face painting, and arts and crafts activities to amuse the younger ones. There will also be arts and crafts artisans and general business vendors selling a variety of items. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Depending on the weather, visitors will have the opportunity to take hot air balloon rides. They can also enjoy seeing the balloons lit up at night. Other happenings over the course of the event include a car show, fireworks displays, blues musical performances, and a barbecue competition.

Sponsorships are available for this event, ranging from $500 up to $25,000. Some sponsorship levels include signs throughout the event or a company logo on a balloon basket. Volunteers are also being sought to take care of various jobs around the festival grounds.

Any signage needed for this event will likely come from area printing companies, which may also provide the advertising materials needed to encourage people from nearby communities such as Baton Rouge to attend.

The Ascension Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center from September 25 to 26. To learn the latest information, or to become a sponsor, call 225-621-1700.
