February sees “Statesboro’s sweetest race” take place

Registrations are now being taken for The Chocolate Run, said to be “Statesboro‘s sweetest race”. Taking place in February 2013, it could be just the thing many folks still struggling to lose those extra holiday pounds could have hoped for.

Better than all of that though, the organizing team will also be handing out plenty of candy and chocolates, which will certainly make the 5K easier to complete. All entrants will also get an exclusive T-shirt to run in.

Further good news is that all participants in the 5K walk/run, will be raising money for the Open Hearts Community Mission. A popular charity helping the homeless of Bulloch County and Statesboro get their lives back, it is hoped many people will part with the $20 entry fee. To help raise even more awareness, flyer printing will likely be in hand for the event too.

The five-kilometer route will take in many downtown sites. Starting from the Courthouse on Saturday, February 23, at 9:00 am, those interested have until 7:30 am that morning to register, and can do so on the day. For those feeling less active, a one-kilometer fun run is also taking place, with a $10 entry fee.

Organizers also hope that many families and friends will turn out to watch their loved ones navigate the course. With many post-event entertainment taking place too, as well as local businesses offering food and drinks, there will be plenty to make the day an enjoyable one.
