Snellville students artwork showcased at Dogwood

This weekend will see over 100 artworks go on display at the 2013 Atlanta Dogwood Festival, with four of the pieces produced by Snellville students.

The Atlanta High School Art Exhibition will also feature 37 other pieces from students in Gwinnett County. Displayed at Piedmont Urban Park, the wonderful and inspired creations will be star exhibits in this year’s festival.

Poster printing and various flyer and stationery runs have been taking place to advertise the event all over, with many art lovers expected to attend.

The four pieces representing Snellville have all been completed by students at Brookwood High, which is one more than 2012’s total; showing that art is certainly on the up at a local level.

The biggest honor of the event belongs to a neighbor’s work however. That position goes to Parkview High’s Camille Petit. The 10th grader has received the ‘Best of Show’ award for her work entitled ‘Laura’.

Many other Gwinnett students were also recipients of commendations, with another Parkview High entry, ‘Ebb and Flow’ by 12th grader Sarah Tucker, landing fourth place. Norcross High’s 12th grader Emily Danielson celebrates sixth position.

Another four students from the area received Honorable mentions too.

In total, eleven schools across the county will see the work of their students go on display, with Norcross High having the more pieces on display (eight), while Collins Hill High and North Gwinnett High will have six apiece.

The festival runs from Friday April 19 through Sunday 21.
