Snellville gets ready for new Walmart

Following the grand opening of Lawrenceville’s new Walmart Neighborhood Market last Wednesday, June 27, many residents of Snelleville are looking forward for their turn.

The new store, which is located at 2912 West Main Street, is due for its launch date on August 29. As the second store in the state, print shops are no doubt already readying the posters, banners, and flyer printing for the big occasion. Many people living in and around Snellville are looking forward to the launch eagerly.

The area in which the store is being constructed does not presently have any major grocery stores. Further still, the addition of extra services to the area will be welcomed by many.

The Neighborhood Market brand from the company also offers general merchandise, alongside regular groceries. With a bakery and pet supply outlet too, it could serve the local community well.

It is also hoped to help in the regeneration of a neglected area. Presently, the site is a vacant lot and has sat that way for a little time longer than many would have liked.

Furthermore, the local economy is hoped to be boosted by the new jobs being created. When news of the store was first announced, it was estimated that in the region of 90 new positions would need to be filled.

The August 29 grand opening for the 40,600 square-foot store was confirmed by officials at Walmart some weeks ago. However, though now just a couple of months away, the exact details of the day are still being confirmed.

Looking at the Lawrenceville opening, it is likely it will be a showy affair. On that occasion, the national anthem rung out, before invocation by a local minister took place.
