Applications for tourism and trade board members invited as world comes to town
September 17, 2012 by Sarah
Snellville Tourism and Trade (STAT) has opened its application process for new board members, as its Vice President, Kelly McAloon, moves across to take up the executive director position.
A much valued organization from and for the business community and city as a whole, there are nine permanent positions on the board. All incumbents will have to reapply for their position, going through the full nomination process in the same way as other candidates putting themselves forward.
Talking about the process, the chair of the nominating committee, Jon Richards, said:
“We will look at applications and make recommendations.
“Anyone who wants to apply, can.”
Four to five positions will then be voted for on November 8 at the Commerce Club meeting, with the City Council and Downtown Development Authority approving the nominations.
As an important aspect to business life in Snellville, applicants are urged to improve the city’s standing and volunteer for local events, such as the upcoming ‘Around The World Visits Snellville’.
Poster and banner printing has already taken place for this much-anticipated event, which will bring a host of global sights and sounds, flavors, and tastes to the city. Celebrating the rich heritage of the diverse community of Snellville, the latest event from STAT will be one of education, fun, and a whole load of food.
Any exhibitors wishing to take part still have time to apply for the event. Taking place in Briscoe Park from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm on September 29, it is a free event that looks like becoming a mainstay on the calendar.
