It may be some three months away, but plans are already well underway for the 2013 Savannah Music Festival. A celebration of music in all its guises, the Spring event is always well attended by locals and visitors from near and far.
A festival that has national importance, the Wall Street Journey once stated the city was the perfect host:
“Savannah’s hallmark is its cultural diversity… It’s a celebration of music in all its many forms.”
Thursday, November 15 saw the tickets go on sale for the first time, with sales likely to go well despite only a few acts already being confirmed. Poster printing will be underway for the ticket sales, while later editions will focus on the the performances.
Print companies in Savannah will no doubt be in high demand to really throw the festival into the spotlight over coming months too.
It is the 24th season for the festival, which hosts dozens of concerts. Taking place throughout the city, most venues in the historic downtown district will take part. With many other local businesses also getting involved, particularly cafes, bars, and restaurants, it is a great time to visit.
Performers confirmed for the event include the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, making its seventh successive appearance. Jazz stars including Ahmad Jamal, Charles Mcpherson, and Houston Person will also be playing live.
With acts from R&B, blues, folk, traditional American, and World Music also taking to the stage, it is sure be another show-stopping time.
The 2013 festival gets started on Thursday March 21 and runs through Saturday, April 6.
