Savannah job seekers boosted by weekend event

A special one-day job-training expo sponsored by the City of Savannah has proved popular, with many local job-seekers turning up to find out about what opportunities are available.

The event, called The Jump Start Job Readiness Training Expo, got underway at 10:00 am last Saturday, August 4, running through the day at the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center. It was specially arranged so that both young and old job seekers would be able to find it useful.

The training expo was split into two sessions. The first was for those for those aged 15 through 22, with a separate second session for those aged 23 and over.

Representatives from job training schemes throughout the area were in attendance. They were offering advice about training schemes that were available and advising people how to enroll. Local and national companies were represented too. With stalls displaying company literature, catalogs, and brochures, there was a great deal of information on offer for those wanting to take control of their own lives.

It is to be hoped that many of the public who attended the free event found the information helpful and will go on to start new and successful careers. The event is likely to be repeated at the Savannah Entrepreneurial Center, which is already the host site for many business workshops and has a great resource center for local. From getting help with business card printing and stationery printing to making contacts, it provides a valuable boost to local businesses.
