December kicks off with Kennesaw parade
December 1, 2012 by James
The City of Kennesaw, its residents, and local businesses are all coming together on this afternoon to make sure the 2012 holiday season gets off to a great start.
The annual festivities will see the Christmas tree lighting topping off an afternoon of entertainment, which will include a parade right through downtown Kennesaw. Local marching bands, festive floats, cartoon characters, and a host of musical groups will take part.
The parade will also mark Santa’s first visit of the year, as he is pulled through the streets by his team of reindeer.
The parade starts at 1:00 pm from Park Drive, and should take about an hour to get to Deport Park. Banner printing will likely be taking place to line the route down Main Street, with attendees urged to get their early for a great viewing spot.
Once the parade arrives, the entertainment will continue right through 6:00 pm. Live music and dance will be performed, while there will also be a host of tempting festive food for purchase. The tree will be lit at 5:30 pm.
Local retailers, crafts, and other companies will also have stalls, brightly decorated for the season. Anyone taking part is advised to make sure leaflet and business cards printing are taken care of to maximize the opportunities.
As well as Santa being on hand for the kids, a petting zoo, pony rides, and other activities will also be available. This year also sees a new activity being offered – a real snow playground, which is bound to prove very popular.
