Duluth tree set for lighting this evening
December 1, 2012 by Mark
Today, December 1, will see the Duluth Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony take place on the Town Green, with Santa making his annual stop-off just for the event.
An event which is always eagerly supported by residents and local businesses, owners are encouraged to ensure their advertising is well up to scratch. Print companies in the area are likely to be flooded with requests for posters and all manner of printed paraphernalia over the coming weeks.
The event starts long before the tree is lit though. From 4:00 pm tonight, the Duluth City Hall will be an open house, allowing all visitors to come see the festive decorations. From 5.30 pm, visitors will be entertained by the Duluth High School Chorus in the lobby. Donations to the local food pantry of canned goods will be collected at City Hall too.
The ceremony proper will get underway from 6.30 pm, with all the community invited to come see the show. The ceremony will see the Duluth High School Chorus move from City Hall to center stage, to be joined by a choral group from B.B. Harris Elementary School to perform seasonal tunes.
Immediately after the tree is all lit up, Santa will arrive, pulled in once again on his reindeer-driven sleigh.
The event is presented by the Duluth Fall Festival and the City of Duluth, and is just one of the ways in which the area is gearing up for this festive time of year.
