One of the two disused barns on the Dinsmore Farm land will be saved by the Friends of Milton Library group.

A new library is to be built in Milton, and the group wants to renovate one of the barns to be used as a storage area for books and to host events organized by the group. Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System has announced that the new library will be located on Mayfield Road. The opening date has also been revealed as October 1.

One of the barns is too dilapidated to be used but, with significant work estimated to cost around $75,000, the other barn will become a valuable space for the non-profit organization. According to the secretary of Friends of Milton Library, Kim Gauger, the renovation will include creating a concrete surface, repairing the structure of the barn, and relocating the it to the area at the rear of the current structure.

The new library will house audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and books for people of all ages. The 25,000-square-foot building will also have separate areas for teenagers, children, adults, and for wireless access. The new library will have a room with computers for those who want to access the internet and an area in which new books can be browsed.

Promotion of the new building and any events held at the renovated barn will be dealt with using various media, including the local printing company. Material saved from an old building on the property will also be used in the restoration project.
