Local artists get ready for the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival

February 4, 2013 by

The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is coming up again in March. The festival draws approximately 350,000 visitors to the area every year.

The art festival features over 225 national and international artists. Categories of art include clay, digital art, drawings, prints, sculpture, wood, photography, metal, mixed media, painting, and jewelry. The artists compete for prizes and the winner of Best in Show receives $10,000. This year’s judges will be Ed Shay, Bill Griffith, and Cecily Cullen.

The festival is a great opportunity for artists who are either just beginning or who are established to introduce themselves to the public, many of whom will not have any experience in purchasing or viewing art. It is also a good chance for them to meet their fellow artists and to possibly begin to work collaboratively. With that in mind, it is very likely that many of the artists from Winter Park and elsewhere will invest in business card printing or postcard printing in advance of the festival.

In addition to art for sale, the Children’s Workshop Village will be returning again this year. The workshop offers hands on arts and crafts activities for children aged 2 – 12. The most popular is easel painting.

During the weekend of the festival, the Morse Museum of Modern Art will be offering free admission to all.

The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival will take place at Central Park from March 15 – 17. Admission is free. For more information, call 407-644-7207.
