Help raise money for City of Tampa Parks and Recreation
November 13, 2011 by Sarah
The 9th annual Made by Hand Show and Sale will take place at the Hyde Park Art Studio on November 19 from 9 am to 5 pm. This event will raise money for Friends of Tampa Recreation which supports the city’s art programs and activities.
Items expected to be offered for sale include pottery, paintings, jewellery and glass. All of the works were created by students and instructors involved in the city’s art programs. In addition, there will be art demonstrations and “make-n-take” projects which will help you release the artist within. This event is advertised by a dramatic poster; printing swirls over and around a large hand.
With the economy the way it is, everyone is looking for ways to save on Christmas presents. Doing your holiday shopping at the Made by Hand Show will not only give you access to one-of-a-kind and low-cost presents, but you will be helping to promote the arts in Tampa.
Art education is often the first thing cut by school boards so it becomes more and more important for cities to offer art programs to local residents. While many fail to see the importance of art to an overall education, there are many more that recognize the need for all of us to have a creative outlook. Art education teaches you discipline and patience, and is very good for your self-esteem when you realize you have created a unique work of art; these skills can only help build a whole person who will be an asset to any business.
