Celebrate small business in Tampa

The 2012 Small Business of the Year Awards banquet will take place at the Tampa Convention Center on September 28 from 5:30 – 9:00 PM; this is the thirty-second year that the awards have been handed out in Tampa. Tickets are $90 for Greater Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce members and $100 for non-members; corporate tables of ten are available for $1,000 for members and $1,150 for non-members. Up to 900 people are expect to attend the banquet.

There are four categories of awards which will be handed out at the banquet: companies with 5-20 employees, companies with 21-50 employees, companies with 51-250 employees and Outstanding Leader. 99% of Tampa’s businesses are considered to be small businesses and any event which celebrates the best of those companies is important to the community.

This event will also be an excellent networking opportunity for Tampa business men and women. Those who do attend would be wise to arrange for business card printing in advance of the awards banquet to ensure they have enough to hand out to everyone who wants one. It will be a great chance to make connections with some of the most successful small business leaders in the city and to learn from their successes.

Small businesses really are the glue that holds communities together; they employ a large amount of people overall and they provide much needed products and services. Celebrating the best in small business helps us to understand how important innovation and service are to the health of a community and its economy.
