Get in shape for Christmas with a jog

December 16, 2012 by

A great way to keep in shape and to get rid of those extra calories that tend to be piled on over the holiday period is to take part in a run or a walkathon. The city of Sunrise Jingle Bell Jog is one such event. No doubt organizers are working with local printing companies to let the community know of this upcoming event.

The Jingle Bell Jog is an annual 5K walk/run for everyone – children, youth and adults can all take part. The event is sponsored by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Road Runners Club (GFLRRC). In addition to the Jingle Bell Jog, there is the Elf Romp for children aged 10 and under and the Youth Mile for those aged 11 and up. Everyone who competes in the Elf Romp and Youth Mile receives a medal for finishing. There are also several awards to be handed out, including the Top 3 Overall, Top 3 Master (40 and over), Top 3 Golden Master (70 and over), and a few other awards based on age categories.

The 28th annual Jingle Bell Jog will take place at the Sawgrass Technology Park on December 22, beginning at 7:30 AM. Entrance fees are $25 for adult members of the GFLRRC, $30 for adult non-members, $15 for students, $5 for those competing in the Elf Romp and Youth Mile. All those competing in the Jingle Bell Jog who register by tomorrow, December 17 will receive a T-shirt. For more information, call 954-461-5515.
