Emerson expands Latin American headquarters in Sunrise
February 19, 2013 by Sarah
Emerson Electric has announced that it will be expanding its current Latin American headquarters in Sunrise.
The office was originally opened in 2011 and was the first LEED certified building in Broward County. Sunrise was chosen as the location of the headquarters partly due to a large bilingual workforce and access to Latin-American related companies in the area.
Emerson will be investing $400,000 in renovating the office and adding an additional 9,500 square feet. The expansion will create 20 more jobs at the office, increasing the total number of employees to over 70. The company has also received $140,000 in job-creation incentives with an extra $40,000 added if the new employees are residents of Sunrise. To receive these incentives, the company had to ensure the salary for each employee would be over $84,000 a year and was required to invest at least $400,000 in the office space and the necessary equipment.
The company, which is St. Louis-based, is seeking employees in finance and accounting, human resources, business analysis, and management. The jobs will be posted on the company’s website.
Emerson Electric will likely also be advertising the job openings within the community, as it is in its best interest to hire locally. No doubt they will be working with Sunrise printing companies to advertise the expansion. This could come in the form of a flyer that would be mailed out to everyone in the community or distributed at various colleges in the area.
