Celebrate the Fourth of July in Sunrise
June 19, 2012 by Sarah
There are a couple of special events being held in Sunrise on July 4 which will celebrate the birth of the United States. The Great American Heroes Parade and Family Fun Day will take place from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. The parade will travel along Sunset Strip and will finish at City Park.
The Great American Heroes parade will feature, among other things, floats, community organizations, local companies and marching bands, all in keep with the theme of celebrating those who made America great. Anyone in the community is welcome to apply to take part in the parade. Sunrise printing companies will no doubt be providing banner printing services to some of those organizations. Each marching band will be carrying a banner telling everyone who they are and there will also probably be banners hung from floats and city buildings. After the parade, there will be free food, carnival rides and kids entertainment at City Park.
Later in the day, there will be a celebration at the Bank Atlantic Center. There will be two concerts, featuring the Jacob Jeffries Band and Sister Hazel, which will begin at 6:00 pm, children’s rides, food, and retail vendors selling Independence Day related merchandise. There will also be children’s activities such as face painting, jugglers, and bounce houses. The evening will finish off with a spectacular fireworks display beginning at 9:00 pm.
Like so many cities countrywide, Sunrise is hosting a great day of outdoor activities which is not to be missed. Get the kids out of the house for the day and celebrate the birthday of the United States.
