Derby Day raises funds for therapeutic riding

The 3rd annual Derby Day Fun Show and Fair is taking place early this May, and will raise funds for horse-oriented charities.

There will be plenty of activities for the entire family including hayrides, pony rides, face painting, games, make and take arts and crafts, food concessions, and vendors. There will also be several performances from horse riders and drill teams, games in which goldfish can be won, and visitors will get to pet a horse. It sounds like the perfect day for horse lovers of any age.

Many will no doubt be working with Pompano Beach print companies to prepare for the fair. This might include investing in banners to draw attention to their booths or flyers to let their regular customers know that they will be participating in the fair.

The Bit-by-Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, which is the beneficiary of the event, offers riding lessons for adults and children, both disabled and not. Its ‘Horses for Heroes’ program helps veterans and their families free of charge, with a program that includes physical, occupation and speech therapy.
Now in its 15th year of operation, horse lovers in the area may want to keep an eye on the Center’s website for news of future events.

The fair will take place at the Sand and Spurs Equestrian Park on May 4 from 10:00 am – 2:30 pm. Admission is $1 for those aged 10 and up. Those who wish to ride in the show must register by May 1. Call 954-295-9047 or 952-548-4516 for more information.
