The Romp in the Swamp obstacle run is taking place in Plant City next month, and is being used as a fundraiser for the Foundation of South Florida Baptist Hospital and the Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce.
The run consists of a 5K run and a one-mile kids’ run. Participants will encounter a number of obstacles during the course, and will receive a T-shirt and a timing chip. Everyone who takes part will receive finisher medals and will compete for various awards such as Best Time and Best Costume. The top three finishers in the men’s and women’s categories will even receive trophies. The kids’ run will consist of two categories: those aged 5-8 and 9-13.
There will be an after party at the finish line of the obstacle run that will feature live musical entertainment and food vendors.
Sponsorships from $150 to $10,000 are also available for local companies that wish to ensure the smooth running of the event. Sponsors will be recognized during the event possible on a banner, which has been provided by a Plant City printing company.
Romp in the Swamp will take place at the Lower Green Swamp Preserve on October 12 beginning at 8:30 am. Runners will take off in waves. Fees for elite 5K runners are $90 in advance or $105 on the day of the event, $80 for 5K runners or $90, and $25 for children or $30. For more information about the run, call 813-754-3707.
