Missouri celebrates Earth Day

March 19, 2014 by

Several communities in Missouri have special events held for this Earth Day, which takes place in April. Among the celebrations will be the one held in Sunset Hills.

Earth Day will start off there with a 5K Run/Walk beginning at 8:30 am. Registration fees are $20 or $25 after April 10. Prizes will be awarded for the top female and male participants in age categories ranging from nine and under to 50 and up. The first 200 people to register will receive a T-shirt. Packages can be picked up at the Sunset Hills Community Center on April 11.

In addition to this, there will be plenty of children’s activities, gardening advice, and the Lindberg School District Student Art Fair. There is also a green vendor fair that will feature such exhibitors as the St. Louis Audubon Society and the Sunset Hills Garden Club. Those who plan to attend can also bring items that they wish to recycle, with clothing, batteries, paint, electronics, eye glasses, and paper among the reusable items that can be catered for.

Many from the area, including nearby Manchester, will no doubt want to take part in some of the offered activities. Local printing companies often help to advertise events in the community by providing flyer and poster printing services.

Free to attend, the Earth Day Celebration will take place at the Sunset Hills Community Center on April 12 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Call 314-842-7265 for more information.
