The Florida Strawberry Festival will take place in Plant City from March 1-11, open daily from 10 am-10 pm. Gate admission to the festival grounds is $8 for adults and $4 for youth between six and 12.

The Florida Strawberry Festival is the biggest event in the area. The Queen of the Festival was crowned on January 28 and she is Chelsea Bowden. She will represent the festival in several events throughout the year. The festival features lots of family-friendly events such as the Sea Lion Splash Show, Robinson’s Racing Pigs and Paddling Porkers, a strawberry production exhibit, and a midway with lots of fun rides. There are also concerts from world-famous artists such as the Oak Ridge Boys, the Gatlin Brothers, Air Supply, Brenda Lee, Vince Gill and Reba; concerts are $20-25 each.

The festival is also the home of several competitions including a youth plant show and sale, a baby parade, a dairy show, a poultry show, a fine art show youth competitions, a photography contest, strawberry stemming contests for adults and youth, a corn dog eating contest and a strawberry shortcake eating contest.

Plant City printing companies have probably been working overtime to help the organizers get ready for this year’s Strawberry Festival with tickets, banners, flyers and programs. The Festival is ranked as one of the “Top 40 Fairs in North America” and draws people from all over the world. It is also one of the longest running fairs, dating as far back as 1930, with a short hiatus during World War II.
