Orlando restaurants compete for 2017 honors

The Annual Foodie Awards are now in their 19th season and the Orlando Sentinel is requesting that readers contribute their votes to help decide who is the best in the city this year.

The online-only ballot includes 9 new categories, bringing the total up to 63 choices for people to make. The options include items like best brewery menu, top diner, and best happy-hour choices.

It has been official since 2015 that Americans now spend more money on average on dining out than they do for their groceries. This type of statistic is why so many restaurants are looking for ways to get their names out to the potential patrons in their area. With thousands of restaurants, diners and pubs to choose from, Orlando residents have a tough choice to make.

The awards offer the opportunity for people to give their favorite dining establishment some recognition and allow restaurant owners and staff to increase their own customer base.

Custom printed leaflet menus direct-mailed to local food lovers could boost attention, and postcards with the voting website link and information could be left on tables for patrons. Everyone will have to hurry to get the word out for the 2017 awards, because voting ends on December 30th. Of course, it is never too early to begin planning for the 2018 awards.
