Orlando hosts triennial conference for plastics industry
April 1, 2012 by James
From today April 1 through Thursday April NPE2012, an important global exhibition for the plastic industry, will take place in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. SPI: The Plastic Industry Trade Association, which owns and produces the NPE conference held every three years, has no doubt used services such as flying printing and poster printing to make the public aware of the exhibition, so as to draw as many attendees as possible.
According to SPI’s senior vice president of trade shows and conference, Gene Sanders, more than 900,000 square feet of exhibit space have been purchased by more than 1,800 companies, an amount of space that is 20% more than was occupied by the previous exhibition held in 2009. The economic turndown at the time was the cause for many exhibitors to cut back and drop out of the conference entirely.
Sanders added that registration and hotel occupancies are also up for this year. Attendance is expected to be around 60,000 which is 16% more than in 2009 and the number of room nights booked is close to 50,000 which represents a 56% over 2009. He pointed out that this larger number not only accounts for more people coming to the exhibition but for people staying longer as well. There is also a larger number of individuals coming from outside the United States.
Sanders said that this resurgent NPE2012 will be of great benefit to visitors. There will be more exhibitors, their booths will be larger and there will be more equipment displayed and in operation. NPE provides people in the plastics industry many opportunities to make business connections and discover new technologies.
