Color-Logic announces new software

Color-Logic, a company that has developed the Process Metallic Color System, announced a new version of its software in Orlando, Florida in February, 2011 that can not only be used by offset printers but printers that use inkjet, flexographic and other digital processes to be able to take advantage of using metallic printing.
The Process Metallic Color System was designed to enable printers to print metallic colors that involve the CMYK process and special effects using their existing printing equipment and printing processes. Whereas previously only four colors of metallic inks or substrates could be used, the new system enables the use of five inks that can produce as many as 250 different metallic colors consistently and predictably. In addition, the system was limited in the types of printing processes with which it could be used but is now compatible flexography, offset lithography, wide-format inkjet and many other digital processes.
These added capabilities enable companies to produce effective media programs that include banner printing, labels, collateral literature and packaging materials with metallic effects that are striking and dramatic and stand out from competitors’ materials. The added benefit is that these dynamic effects from the utilization of metallic colors can be done without the use of special equipment and can use the existing workflows of printers and designers. These new capabilities will also enable and serve to encourage graphic designers to work with metallic colors in the creation of their marketing materials due to the ease of use of the new metallic color printing system.
