Make a point of visiting the Tin City Wine Tasting and Sand Sculpting Festival

April 11, 2012 by

The 2nd annual Tin City Wine Tasting and Sand Sculpting Festival, also known as Sand Bash will be held at Tin city from April 27-May 6 from 10 am-9 pm daily. Tickets for each day are $15.

The theme of this year’s festival is “Wines from around the world.” There will be the chance to taste many different wines and to enjoy the talent of several master sand sculptors from all over the world. All events will take place under the covered parking lot. There will most likely also be food vendors and possibly some souvenir vendors.

Sand sculpting has come a long way from just small castles built using a plastic bucket and spade. Like ice sculpting, it has become an art in itself. It is hard to tell sometimes if the sculptures are actually made of sand. Sand sculptors have recreated many of the great buildings of the world or some of the greatest stone sculptures. Seeing these sculptures up close is something that must be experienced at least once in a person’s life.

Those who live in Naples and work either for graphic design or printing companies might be interested in seeing these sand sculptures up close. While sand is a very temporary medium and the sculptures will not be there for long, artists can get a lot of inspiration for their own work by watching these master sand sculptors at work. Also, what better way is there to spend an evening than by sampling tasty wines and viewing sand sculptures in a location very close to the waterfront?
