Celebrate the Fourth of July in Naples

June 8, 2012 by

There will be lots of activities for residents of Naples to celebrate Independence Day this year; a marathon run, a parade, a sidewalk sale and, of course, fireworks at dusk. This is the biggest party of the year, and not many do it bigger than Naples.

The day will start off with the 34th annual Moe’s 5K Firecracker run at Fleischmann Park from 7:00 – 9:00 am. Entry fees are $20 for adults and $10 for those 18 and under; registered runners will receive a t-shirt. Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall winner and to each age-group division winner.

The Naples July 4th parade will take place on 3rd St. South and 5th Avenue from 10:00 am 12:00 pm. The parade will feature marching bands, community organizations, boys and girls groups and floats. Anyone can apply to take part in the parade. Floats must adhere to certain rules and must have a patriotic July 4th theme. Naples printing companies can help those who are chosen decorate their floats by providing services such as banner printing. A colorful red, white and blue banner hung over a float will help it to stand out from the others and help contribute to the patriotic theme.

After the parade, the Evening on Fifth and sidewalk sale will be taking place from noon until 10 pm. There will be musical entertainment, dancing, dining and shopping in the area stores.

The evening will finish off with a dazzling fireworks display on Naples Pier from 9:00 – 9:30 pm.
