The Pembroke Pines Antiques and Collectibles Show will take place at the S.W. Focal Point Senior Center the weekend of April 14-15 from 9 am to 5 pm each day. Admission is $3 and children under 12 are admitted free.

There will be about 50 vendors at the show, including one selling orchids. Vendors will be selling items such as antique furniture, vintage products, quilts, plants, vintage clothing, collectibles and paper products such as magazines, photographs, postcards and posters. There will also be a food and snacks available at the Paradise Cafe. Guests can bring in their items for appraisal by an expert on the Sunday for $3 per item; it’s entirely possible that some of the appraised items will be worth a lot more than the owner of the item ever imagined.

Several of the vendors will no doubt be offering vintage collectables and paper products such as postcards. Postcard printing techniques and styles have changed over the years and those with an interest in the genre and collect postcards will be excited to find old ones. There are bound to be several postcards of the Miramar/Pembroke Pines area from days gone by.

With the economy the way it is today, people are always looking for bargains. Shows such as flea markets, collectibles and antiques shows allow people to purchase needed items for a lower price that they would pay in stores. It also enables those who need some extra money to sell some items that have been taking up space either in the basement, the attic or the garage.
