December 25, 2011 by James
A new study from InfoTrends provides information of interest to stationery printers from Miami, Florida and elsewhere. The study, titled The High-speed Continuous-feed Color Inkjet Opportunity: Global Insights from Leading Customers, looks at the impact of high-speed inkjet printing systems on the market for digital color printing. According to the study, by 2015, this type of system will handle about 40% of the color printing of digital pages. They are known to have improved quality levels, a good cost base and high production levels.
The study, which examines opportunities for this segment in the future, interviewed 52 print locations in 15 countries and provides case studies based on evidence from high level print industry executives, senior managers and production managers. The research shows the factors that help and hinder the industry, highlights successes and challenges and showcases some of the opportunities seen by those who play an integral part in this market segment.
The research looks at applications, workflow, finishing, paper and future demand, delivering findings covering return on investment, pre-press workflow, finishing equipment compatibility, issues with paper selection, and concerns, ideas and plans for the future.
InfoTrends director Ralf Schlozer comments:
“The move to high-speed inkjet color is, in part, related to print technology advances that allow high-speed color printing at decent quality levels to combine with strong cost metrics. But it is key to find the right applications now matching the capabilities of today’s technologies as well as getting prepared for the opportunities next generation devices will offer.”
