Miami invited to “come on down”

Miami residents who have always longed to hear the words “come on down” may have the chance if they fill out an online application and attend a casting call on in a few weeks’ time.

The Price Is Right, the long-running daytime game show, will bring its nationwide contest search to South Florida. This is the fifth year in a row the show has gone in search of contestants across the nation, but the first time the search has come to South Florida.

Now in its 42nd year, the Emmy Award-winning program is the #1 show on daytime TV as well as the longest-running game show in the history of television. Indeed, it was originally aired back in 1956, before being brought back onto screens in the 1970s. Today, its host is Drew Carey.

Two applicants will be chosen by representatives of CBS4 after being interviewed and videotaped, and will be flown to Los Angeles sometime this fall. One of the two will definitely be given a bidder’s spot. Which of the two lucky Floridians will be told to “come on down” will not be revealed until the taping, when their name is called.

Although only two people can win spots on the real game show, some enterprising entrepreneurs could spread the fun around and gain sales by doing their own promotional game based around the same format of the popular game show.

Auditions will be held 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on August 18 at Gulfstream Casino Hallandale Beach, Florida.
