Labor Day bed race offers weekend fun for a good cause

Rolling through the Labor Day weekend, The Great Grove Bed Race 2012 will be held on September 2 in Miami, Florida. The weekend will begin with an evening of bathrobes, fuzzy slippers, and sleepwear for the Michelob Ultra Pajama Pub Crawl on Saturday, September 1. All of the weekend events will be held in the Coconut Grove neighborhood in Miami, at the corner of Grand Avenue and Commodore.

The Pajama Pub Crawl will allow participants free drink coupons for visiting local pubs during the evening. The Crawl is from 8:00 pm to midnight and then the bed race will start at 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Gift certificates and cash prizes will be awarded for best theme, crowd favorite, top online fundraiser, most creative bed, and best-engineered bed. The top three finishers will get trophies relevant to their position of first, second, or third.

Other prizes will be given throughout the day to those who triumph in fun activities during the parade of beds, such as a decoration contest and an award for best costume.

Print companies are probably completing the flyer printing for the bed race, which aims to improve economic impact and awareness so that Grove Village can raise funds for a good cause. The registration fee for new and veteran teams of five will be $125 and can be paid online at the website of the sponsor, The Great Grove Bed Race. All of the proceeds of the Memorial Day event will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.
