Expansion keeps magic kingdom fresh

Residents and visitors to the Miami area who love Disneyworld may wish to take an overnight visit to Orlando in December. The long awaited Fantasyland expansion is finished and will ceremoniously open on December 6.

As often happens, there was an earlier, low-key opening on November 19. The official opening in December will be a more festive event, accompanied by all the excitement and grandeur the park can muster.

It would be no surprise if the Disney advertising department has been keeping brochure printers busy producing depictions of the new additions, such as Enchanted Tales with Belle and Ariel’s Grotto. Additionally, there is the much talked about Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid – a moving attraction on par with Finding Nemo at Epcot. It takes park attendees journeying thorough scenes from the Little Mermaid movie. Postcard printing for the park will need to switch into high gear to show off the expansion, which will continue with a Princess Fairytale Hall next year and a Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for 2014.

New dining options include Gaston’s Tavern and the ‘Be Our Guest’ restaurant. The innovative ‘Be Our Guest’ offers lunch or dinner with GPS technology, combining the speed and convenience of walk-up counter service with a more relaxing sit-down dining experience. Servers track down and identify diners, who previously placed their orders on a touch screen, regardless of where in the castle’s three dining areas they choose to sit. This is accomplished via a magical rose the diners take from the touch screen and keep with them.
