Miami print companies can gain inspiration from the announcement that Carolyn Klages has been named the North American People’s Choice award winner in the Roland’s international design contest. Competing with more than 60 others, Carolyn Klages, from Klages Kreations in Oviedo, Florida, won the number one spot for her ski wrap. Her prize was an iPad2 and some headphones from Roland.
Her entry consisted of five sets of skis wrapped individually in order to show off the company’s logo. She used a Roland VersaCAMM VS-420 42-inch metallic inkjet printer to produce the wrap. The wrap includes metallic snowflakes and scroll work and is printed on vinyl backed with an adhesive. While Ms Klages was pleased with the win, she stated:
“The real prize for me has been taking a look at creative projects produced by Roland users from all over the globe. Looking at all the many ways artists are using Roland equipment has really sparked our creativity. A big ‘thank you’ goes out to Roland for sponsoring such a wonderful contest to encourage creativity in our field, and also for making great equipment!”
Ms Klages’ firm specializes in custom made monograms, embroidery and design. The Roland Creative Awards were launched in September 2011 and are open internationally. So far, the competition has had over 750 submissions from 123 countries around the world, grouped into 14 regions. As well as the monthly awards, there is a grand prize on offer of a trip to Japan and a Roland machine. Entries will be accepted until 29 January 2012.
