Big Brothers Big Sisters hold fundraiser to honor local women

One of the charms of Miami is the abundance of events available for having fun while supporting a good cause, and this month is to be no exception. Big Brothers Big Sister Women’s Committee is holding ‘An Evening of Love’ this week to benefit the organization and the Lori Brener Scholarship Fund.
Volunteers with Big Brothers and Big Sisters help local youth by just spending one-on-one time with them. Attending events like this are another way the public can help. A variety of advertising methods are used by this and similar organizations to educate the public. Often, interested parties feel more comfortable reading brochure or flyer printing examples before making direct contact with a charity.
The Lori Brener Scholarship Fund honors a local Coral Park High School graduate who found success in Los Angeles as a commercial video and film producer. Ms Brener, who was a Big Brother Big Sister supporter, died in 2009 at only 42 years of age.
The event, ‘An Evening of Love’, is being held at the Sonesta Bayfront Hotel in Coconut Grove and includes music by Jorge Gomez, cocktails, and a supper-by-the-bite. A silent auction of jewelry, travel packages and other luxury items will also be available for interested parties. Tickets are $125 each, and those interested can learn more by contacting Deborah Perez on 305-644-0066.
The fundraiser kicks off on February 7 at 7:00 pm.
