Attorneys awarded for justice on the high seas

June 21, 2013 by

Two Miami attorneys – Charles R. Lipcon and Jason R. Margulies – received the much-coveted Super Lawyers’ badge for 2013. They work at the firm of Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Windleman, P.A., formed in 1971 to handle cases for those who receive injuries on a ship or boat as either a guest or a worker.

Specialization occurs in every industry, and today it seems that lawyers in particular are subdividing into specialized practices. Obviously, this firm’s specialty was made to order for the city of Miami, as the Port of Miami is the busiest in the world with regard to cruise ships. However, the firm serves not only local plaintiffs in personal injury and violations of maritime law, but also those throughout the nation and abroad.

As a third-party research/rating service, Super Lawyers recognizes those who have distinguished themselves in their chosen area of law. Their selection takes into account a lawyer’s individual performance, peer evaluation, and commitment to excellence in serving their clients.

This is the second time Margulies has been honored in this way, and the seventh time in a row for Lipcon.
When professionals are given prestigious awards, often they update their digital business cards to reference their new credentials in some way.

Lipcon has been among the Super Lawyers since 2007 and in practice for more than 40 years. Additionally, he has written several books about passenger and crewmember rights. Margulies joined the Florida Bar in 1995, and has appeared on the Florida Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite list in the area of Admiralty & Maritime Law several times.
