Seminole County Schools host annual arty effort

Arts programs and arts classes are often the first things to be cut in tough economic times, so it is a relief that there are such groups as the Foundation for Seminole County Schools that engage in fundraising in order to distribute the funds they raise to Seminole County public schools.

One popular annual fundraiser is ‘Arts Alive’ in Seminole. Last year’s event raised over $100,000 and it is hoped that this year will surpass that total. This year’s Arts Alive will feature a cocktail reception, a gourmet dinner, silent and live auctions, and musical, theatrical, and dance performances by students and staff of Seminole County schools. The emcee for the event will be FOX anchorman Bob Frier. It is shaping up to be an enjoyable way to save arts education and to experience the range of talent evident at those schools.

Local businesses are being asked to donate items for the auctions. Sponsorships are also available from $200 to $10,000. Sponsors, who are likely to come from all over Seminole County, including Longwood, will receive recognition in all advertising and on signs posted at the event. No doubt local printing companies will be providing those signs.

The 16th Arts Alive in Seminole will take place at the Westin Lake Mary this Friday, November 30, from 6:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Tickets are $200 and all proceeds will go to the Foundation for Seminole County Schools. For more information, call 407-320-0196.
