Golf tournament aims to raise funds for Shands transplant patients

The annual Longwood Rehab Charity Golf Tournament will be taking place in early April and seeks to raise funds to support the Shands Hospital for Children at the UF Transplant Long-Term Patient Housing Program.

On the day, teams of four will be chosen through a scramble, and tickets will cover golfing fees, a golf cart, balls, a barbecue lunch, and a silent auction. During lunch, prizes and trophies will be award for such things as closest to the pin, longest drive, and best team. It will be a great opportunity for local businesspersons to network with their fellow business peers over a friendly game of golf.

Sponsorships are available to help support the tournament and range from $100 to $1,000. Those stumping up will be recognized at the event on signs in the clubhouse and/or golf hole signs. No doubt Longwood printing companies will be called upon to provide those signs.

Organizers will also probably require the services of printing companies to advertise the tournament in the community. They might invest in flyer printing to let people know about the upcoming fundraising event, since flyers are inexpensive to produce and can be distributed in many ways, such as through direct mail or as newspaper inserts.

The tournament will take place at Wekiva Golf Course on April 6 beginning at 7:45 am. Tickets are $100 per person and more information can be found by calling 352-265-7237 or visiting the Longwood, Florida website.
