Seafood festival will take place in Key Largo last weekend of January

The third annual Key Largo Stone Crab and Seafood Festival will be held the weekend of January 28 and 29 at Rowell’s Marina Property which is located at mile marker 104.5 along the bayside. The event is being sponsored by the Key Largo Fisheries and Key Largo Merchants Association, with all event proceedings going to benefit the Florida Keys Youth Sports. The Fisheries and the Merchants Association are using printing services to produce flyers and posters to distribute around the state to attract visitors to the event and additional brochures for travel agents to bring tourists into the area for the weekend.
Highlights of the event will include arts and crafts and vendor booths, a car show, live music by Nashville entertainers and performances by a steel drum band. The focus of the event will be the seafood booths where attendees can sample stone crab claws, conch fritters, different types of chowders, fish dip that is homemade, tuna nachos, peel and eat shrimp, grilled oysters and shrimp fritters. Those who are adverse to seafood will be able to find booths serving sausages, chicken and hamburgers and hot dogs. The event will also include cooking tents where attendees can learn tips and tricks for creating popular Key seafood dishes such as crab cakes, conch egg rolls, grilled oysters, and mahi-mahi.
Special activities for the kids will include face painting, a magic show, a kids play area, a little mermaid contest and fishing workshops. A fireworks show will be held Saturday night at 7:30 and a special car show will be held on Sunday.
The event starts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and runs for eleven hours on Saturday and seven hours on Sunday. The cost is $5.00 per adult and children are admitted for free.
