On the move for the Beyond Blind Institute

Local runners and walkers can enjoy themselves while raising money for visually impaired people next month, with the Beyond Blind 5K Run/Walk and Festival.

The 5K run/walk will finish off with an awards ceremony and the top male and female runners in each age category will receive a medal. In addition to the 5K, there will be a day’s worth of activities suitable for every age, such as musical entertainment, children’s activities such as face painting and bounce houses, a ‘Sight-less Chef’ cooking demonstration, a demonstration of therapeutic dance lessons and a ‘Brushes for Blindness’ art show. The ‘Member for a Minute’ challenge will be a novel and awareness-raising offering which allows sighted people to experience what it is like living with blindness or visual impairment.

Organizers of the event are no doubt working with Jupiter printing companies to prepare for the festival. Large colorful banners will help those with some visual impairment find their way to the various activities, while flyers can also be produced that will help explain the goals and needs of the Beyond Blind Institute to anyone who attends the event.

The Beyond Blind Institute is currently raising funds to build a 30,000 square foot institute in Palm Beach Gardens. The walk and festival will take place at the Abacoa Town Center on October 6 from 7:30 am – 9:00 pm. Admission is free for spectators and each runner or walker pays a fee of $30 to take part, with all proceeds going towards the programs of the Beyond Blind Institute.
