Enjoy the arts at ArtiGras

The ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival will take place at the Abacoa Town Center from February 28-20. Admission is $6 per day or $12 for all three days of the festival. $1 of the admission price is donated to local school art programs and the rest goes to support the programs of the ArtiGras Foundation.

So far, the ArtiGras festival has raised over $480,000 for local art programs and scholarships. Over 150,000 people are expected to visit the three-day event.

There will be lots for local art lovers to do at the ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival. Homegrown artists will be exhibiting their latest works of art, artists will be demonstrating their art, there will be an Artikids interactive area, a youth art competition gallery, the Tiny Treasures Children’s Art Boutique (not adults allowed), a beer garden, a comfort zone in the shade, food vendors and musical performances. There will also be an Activity Avenue in which adults can take art classes while being served wine and cheese.

Further funds are raised for the ArtiGras Foundation through the sale of a poster. Printing companies in Jupiter have produced colorful posters since the advent of the festival in 2008. Past posters can be purchased for $20 and $25. They are all suitable for framing.

With so many schools having to slash the budgets of art programs, an organization such as the ArtiGras Foundation becomes even more important. Art education is important to the development of a whole person and cannot be underrated.
