No shellfish behavior likely at upcoming Shrimp Festival

The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival is coming up in early May. Prior to this, a pirate parade will get everyone in the mood to celebrate on April 27.
The three-day festival will feature local seafood, a kids’ zone, fireworks, a miniature golf tournament, fireworks, live entertainment including the Miss Shrimp Festival Scholarship Pageant, and lots of pirates. One highlight of the festival will be the ‘Best decorated shrimpboat’ parade. There will also be a downtown Fernandina Beach merchants’ sidewalk sale and artisan vendors. It should be a great way to spend a spring weekend on the Florida coast.
Over 300 arts and crafts sellers will be taking part in the festival and competing for prizes such as Best in Show. The vendors will be selling a wide variety of one-of-a-kind items such as pottery, paintings, prints, jewelry, and ceramics. Antiques vendors will also be selling such things as collectibles, home decorations, photographs and furniture.
The festival will likely attract people from all over the area, including nearby Jacksonville. Organizers are likely to be working with local print companies to design and print marketing materials such as flyers or brochures. Flyers, for example, are very versatile in how they can be distributed and they can reach a large number of people in a short period of time.
The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival will take place at Fernandina Beach from May 4 – 6. Admission is free. For more information visit the events website.
