Jacksonville to observe Veterans Day
October 28, 2012 by Sarah
The week leading up to Veterans Day in Jacksonville is being called the Week of Valor. There will be several events in the city aimed at showing military veterans how much they are appreciated by the city. Organizers will no doubt be working with Jacksonville printing companies to prepare for this important week, perhaps through banners and signs to let the community know about these upcoming events, as well as where the events are taking place.
On November 5, the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce is presenting its 10th annual military appreciation luncheon at the Prime Osborn Convention Center from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Tickets are $35 for chamber members and $45 for non-members. The keynote speaker for the event will be Major General William M. Faulkner.
Shortly after, on November 7, the Veteran’s Summit will take place at the University of North Florida from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. There will be discussions on the challenges faced by veterans and their families.
Continuing the veteran theme, there will be a Veteran’s Job Fair at the Prime Osborn Convention Center on November 9 beginning at 8:30 am. Admission is free, breakfast will be served, and there will be several keynote speakers. There will be over 50 companies and organizations that aid veterans in finding jobs in attendance.
The week will end with the Veterans Day Parade on November 12, beginning at 11:00 am. There are expected to be over 4,000 participants in the parade. This will include marching bands, military units, the JROTC, and floats. In previous years, there has been pre-parade entertainment.
